This is a bit of a long winded review, but long story short, I feel like these absolutely work and suggest everyone try them!!long review: My cat travels with us when we go out of state to our other home and while she is a very easy going good girl, she doesn't always love the car ride and doesn't fully relax for the 2 hour trip. I got these patches and put one on her carrier after we got going in the car. She meowed a little here and there but after a little bit she seemed to calm down and actually relax. about halfway through the trip and towards the end she even laid her head down and fell asleep for a bit! This was definitely something she'd never done before! After we arrived at the house I left her carrier "house" out in the living room where it usually stays, and the little patch was still on. She came out of the carrier and was ready to play and explore right away. She was super happy and playful all evening and the next day even! She's always a happy kitty but this was different, she seemed more herself and super comfortable! She even let me hold her twice, which she hasn't done in MONTHS, even at home! The only thing different has been this patch! I'm sold. If this is attributed to the patches, I'm a customer for life! I'd like to try the little tub of gel as well to keep open in the house. The patches were super easy to use, there was no strong smell at all. i did smell after I broke the beads inside the patch that my finger tips smelled a little chemical like but it went away and there was no smell in the air whatsoever. I think these are excellent quality, they really do seem to work well, and I had no issues with leaking or anything. If you're thinking about it, DEFINITELY give them a try!
These patches have the familiar floral scent common to other calming pheromone products—and my cat definitely responds to them. I’ve used diffusers and sprays before, so this sticker pod format is a nice addition. It’s especially helpful for vet visits and travel, where I don’t want to permanently spray her soft kennel and risk pheromone desensitization. My cat has separation anxiety due to being abandoned by her previous owner, and she sometimes pees from fear during car rides. These patches help keep her calmer, and the disposable format means I can toss them after use and air out the carrier before storage. Very helpful for targeted, short-term use.
I attempted to use one of these so far but for a product that it meant to be stuck on a carrier or other temporary surface, it lacks stick. I was also disappointed to receive it and realize that it only lasts 24 hours. Perhaps that would be worth it for a long road trip, but not a short vet visit, in my opinion. I guess I'm used to the the products that last closer to a month. I will try my best to make use of the remaining ones in this pack.
Got this item to assist with transporting cats to the vet. We all know cats do not like cars, so I thought I'd give this a shot. So one of my cats gets a monthly shot for arthritis pain, which means a 25-mile car trip each way. My vet supplies a dose of Gabapentin for vet visits, and I have found that to help, along with covering the cat carrier with a towel so the cat cannot see out. So in all fairness, I did all these things in addition to using this pop patch. What you do with these, is activate them by "popping" them. I tried doing this with my fingers, but couldn't quite figure out what I was supposed to be popping, so I used the heel of my hand. That produced a popping sound. There were a couple other spots in the little pod that also popped, which I assume releases the pheromone smell that is the active ingredient. I then peeled off the adhesive backing and stuck the pod to the inside of the cat carrier. I left that be for a couple hours and covered the carrier with a towel to kind of keep the scent inside. I did this at the same time I gave my cat his pre-med. I did NOT put him in the carrier yet - I just was preparing it. 2 hours later, I loaded him up in the prepared carrier and away we went. I do think this helped. He does often meow in the carrier on the trip even with the towel and the meds, but this time he only let out one little meow at the very beginning of the trip and was quiet the rest of the way. Same for the way home. Now, as I said - he was on a pre-med, but he always is when I take him and this time he was considerably quieter. Would it completely calm an animal without pre-meds? I don't know. But it did make a positive difference and that is a win in my book. I have other cats, and they all act differently in the car, but I've not had the opportunity to try this out with any of them.
The Pawith Cat Calming Diffuser is really easy to use, and it works great! It's small/compact, and portable/travel-friendly too. These cute patches really help keep my kitty calm during stressful situations (such as traveling). They adhere well, stay in place, and are long lasting as well. Overall, I think they're well made, well designed, and high quality - worth the price. I'd definitely recommend!
